Diakonie has many faces

... and so does misery. Just like unemployment and homelessness. According to estimates, 410.000 people in Germany are homeless. Among them are 75.000 women and 72.000 children. After the numbers were declining in recent years, the trend is now rising again.

Or: Poverty. Poverty, in a way, is a new phenomenon. About 1,1 million children live on social welfare, so the ratio among children is twice as high as the average of the population. While poverty among the elderly people has dropped, the "poverty risk factor child" increases. In particular when there is only one family income.

The fight against poverty, its causes and consequences, are top of the agenda for Diakonie in its political work and in its offers for the Bavarian people in need.
