Diaconal table communities
Eating with others
All over Bavaria communities set their tables and open their doors to people with different nationalities, social backgrounds and ages. At the diaconal table communities encounters arise and relationships develop that were normally very unlikely to happen.
Parishes are seen in a positive light and volunteers experience good team spirit.
These table communities stand in a long biblical and church tradition - even Jesus enjoyed sitting at a table - and revive some parishes in an impressive way. Diaconal table communities are right in the centre of life and challenged by modern times.
In recent years, approximately 30 diaconal table communities just like in Rosenheim or Erlangen-Bruck came to life within the Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Bavaria.

"Vesper" Churches
The Vesper churches in Schweinfurt and Nuremberg also focus on meals - but this time directly in the house of God.
Meals for people from different social classes and different ages are supplemented by various aid- and information offers, reaching from social counselling to foot care.
Both Vesper churches were able to mobilize hundreds of volunteers and received a strong echo in public and in the media. In addition, Vesper churches provide a platform to address social issues just like poverty and wealth under biblical aspects.
For several weeks, both churches were places of encounters and networking and made it happen that church an Diakonie were seen as one.
